Bat Heaters |

I bought a bat-heater at: www.bat-heater.com and let me tell you what a difference! I had heard that hot balls cold bats were best for distance but found out that is not true. I went to a tournament in Canada recently and it tends to get cold there. These guys were keeping the balls in a beer truck. (damn draft beer!) Apparently to keep the balls from being stolen as well as being central for the umps and those balls definitely traveled farther when cold. They used worth grey dots and they fly when it's cold out but they suck in the hot afternoons. I used my newly purchased microwavable bat-heater to heat my bat and was sending the ball over the fence on a regular basis and I never do that. I do dent a lot of bats though but have not dented this one since I started using my bat-heater. I've gone from hitting around 500 before I started using the bat-heater to 696 this year. I just get cleaner hits with a lot more juice. I also have a bat heater with a microwavable pouch that I bought in the states from another company. It works great except I've gone through 4 pouches in a little over a year and a half. They keep leaking. I found this one with a microwavable pouch that you can puncture and it still won't leak plus it comes with a solar heater built in. You gotta try it guys! Tom

Don't waste your money. I believe you have it backwards. Warm balls absolutely travel farther than cold balls, which by the way cold balls will dent your bat quicker. I have personal experience with this and the bat warmer does nothing at all - zero. Best thing is to stick the balls in the window of your car facing the sun for about an hour before your game. That'll save your bats and lose you balls over the fence.

Let me tell you I prefer warm balls and a warm bat because it stings alot if the balls and bat are cold. I don't know about distance but thats what i think.

I agree with you on the use of a bat warmer, in early spring or late fall when the tempeture falls you should plan to protect your bat. Many of the players on my team use a bat warmer all year round.

You guys need to define what you mean by "bat warmers DO NOT WORK" because you are either talking about bat performance, or you are WRONG!
While I agree that warmed bats probably don't have a significant impact on performance (the initial testimonial is ridiculous), a bat heater can and does work well enough in "cooler" temperatures that it keeps the bat from becoming permanently deformed with those little dents and pocks that occur to cold bats. Thus, if the intent is to protect a bat, then yes, bat heaters do work. |

Let me say just one thing on softballs,I know for a fact that heating softballs in a microwave oven will restrict the distance it can be hit, I saw it tried on a great hitting team and very few went out of the infield, this was a 12 and under team.
